Huge CC from Focus 5 and a projectile block with Focus 4 in Air Invincibility with Focus 5 and a Condi cleanse with Focus 4 in Earth Tested on a Golem and noticed I was doing about 2k less damage then Scepter and Focus, now, that'd be fine if staff had more utility, and while I think it does have decent utility Scepter and Focus also have good utility, such as: I feel the need to come back to this post and say that staff isn't as mediocre as I made it out to be, but it could still use some tweaks. Sorry mate, is possibile see your tempest build? i'm in search for a strong tempest OW build This is JUST on tempest too btw, idk how the other specs will fare. Thing is, Staff doesn't feel too much better from a Open World perspective, my current Tempest build can Solo champs easy and does pretty good damage to everything else, and that's without most boons or something like Spotter, so for now I don't see a point in staff, Scepter and Focus seem better for both single target and groups. I don't have any formal testing, but I tried Cele/Viper's condi staff tempest in place of my usual Scepter + Focus in regular open world content, I noticed I wasn't doing as much damage with staff, I don't have any numbers but if I had to guess maybe I'm doing 3k less? Maybe 4k? 2k even? Since those self-buffs would be mostly duplicated by group buffs in instanced content, that duplication could prevent instanced content staff usage damage from being too high. That would have helped OW leveling and soloing at 80. Instead, they perhaps should have added tons of self-buffing along with lower damage coefficient and burning changes. So, the benefit to instanced usage of staff weaver may be minimal.Īt the same time, these damage buffs are not really strong enough to help new eles that are leveling or solo eles in OW. This to me, desccribes the problem with these Aug 23 staff changes:īuffing damage with coefficient and burning changes can make golem numbers look high (see Fennec's weaver benches above), but the lack of group support that Weaver provides means that staff Weaver probably isn't any more welcome in instanced content than before. Those cooldowns changes look super nice.Īnd one more thing, my build is a open world optimized build, so I'm not gonna be benching super high numbers for at the very least my gear isn't tailored to a DPS build, maybe staff will perform better in instanced content, but for open world, I'm not feeling it. Scepter was looking tempting as well so I may give that a go. At face value it didn't seem all that great but if it's good (Doesn't need to be amazing) then I'm happy. I'm gonna continue using it on weaver then. however its not that spectacular since its rife with attack commitments like slow atk speed, slow fireball that can miss a moving target, things need to stay in aoe, meteor shower cast time, etc on the other hand, the buffs have opened up low effort staff builds that can reach 27k-ish on avg hitbox just by sitting in fire and using 4 skills (fireball, lava font, meteor shower, glyph of storms, flame burst if bothered). Power staff is still mostly lacking on anything that isnt a huge hitbox. like all condi weaver builds, it somehow manages to weave self and probably has some randomly annoying opener cuz the piano gods love that skill (fortunately theres always elite fire elemental for peasant skillclickers like me) I havent tried sussing out how it works but as a jealous core ele enthusiast im guessing its mainly some fire > fire > earth > repeat cycle or similar that abuses burning rage. more if bothered enough to burning retreat and bigger hitbox Catalyst wasn't fun to me at all so I don't particularly have any care towards that espec.Ĭondi staff weaver can apparently get 36k on the avg size hitbox without using burning retreat. I'm also not opposed to trying out Tempest but I have absolutely 0 knowledge about Tempest. How is staff feeling for everyone with the changes? We've had a few weapons get changes so I'm mostly looking for a condi alternative to sword on weaver just to freshen things up a bit. But I do miss just messing about with staff and after seeing the buffs, I was really excited to get into trying it out. Now I still consider myself a very inexperienced Elementalist, though I kinda clicked with Condi weaver and I love every second of playing it. Condi application on staff seems really low due to the extremely low duration on pretty much every skill outside of staff 3 for fire and staff 2 for earth plus the actual damage values of the conditions are.yikes. On Weaver it seems like that's just not happening, the other options just seem much better for condi than staff could ever hope to be. I was a little hopeful for condi staff to be a thing on Ele for a while now.
